How I'm Becoming a Possibilitarian

September 19, 2013 15 Comments

This post is part of a the Flying Sisters Blog Circle (from the Facebook group I mention below) and this is my first time participating!

What is a Possibilitarian, you ask?  Well, it's choosing to live your life seeing the possibilities.  I first heard this word from the wonderful Kelly Rae Roberts.  Being a Possibilitarian is something Kelly has been very passionate about.  She has started many things based off this word.  You can check out the project and tribe by clicking the images below.

Last September,  I signed up for Kelly Rae Roberts Flying Lessons e-course.  The only reason I signed up was because it was the last time she was offering the course as an e-course.  I didn't want to miss out!  Kelly is one of my artistic inspirations! The course was fabulous and full of information.  There were over 600 women (I don't think any men) who were also taking this course.

Kelly set up a private Facebook group, which will always be around.  Being a part of this wonderful group of women is a huge inspiration and even though we mostly have never met in person, we have become friends.  We help each other with questions, we inspire each other with thoughts and we cheer each other on for being brave and for our accomplishments.  If you ever have the opportunity to take a class that provides this sort of atmosphere, I highly recommend it.

Throughout this past year, this Facebook group has branched off into a couple of smaller groups.  I've joined in on a few of them.  One is Julia Cameron's, "The Artist's Way" book.  We decided to work through the book together and do one chapter each month for 2013.  We created a private Facebook group to share our thoughts and Artists Dates for each month.  I have to admit, I've done a little slacking here, but it helps to be part of the group, as it provides motivation to continue on.  I've started to go back and finish the tasks I didn't get to earlier in the year.

The other things I've accomplished are creating a website and blog, opening my Etsy shop, tried my hand at acrylic painting, and opening my own online store on my website, which also has print-on-demand!  It's been a steep learning curve, utlizing a lot of time to accomplish all these things.  I've spent a lot of time Googling what I need to learn.  I've also signed up for some online courses offered through Groupon.  And to top it off, I also signed up for a couple of Alisa Burke's online courses, as she is another one of my artistic inspirations!

I'm becoming a Possibilitarian through inspiration, first and foremost, and by being brave, moving outside my comfort zone, taking steps (even baby ones count!), because I believe in the possibility of my life evolving into the creative life I would love to live 24/7.

Are you a Possibilitarian?  How did you get there?

If not, would you like to be?  What steps are you going to take to get there?

Please share your stories in the comments.  I would love to know and I'm sure everyone else would too.  Your story may just become someone else's inspiration.  How cool would that be?!

Please continue reading the Flying Sisters Blog Circle.  Next stop is my friend, Ginger Deverell.  Read about how she is becoming a Possibilitarian!

Suzi, thank you so much for the sweet comment. I think our whole group has come a long way in this past year. It’s so nice to watch everything unfold in different ways for each of us. I’ve enjoyed having you, a fellow pencil drawer, along for the ride with me. You have provided me with inspiration. I truly appreciate your friendship and support too.

Thank you, Vickie! Oh, I know, I’ve slacked off too. Slowly trying to catch up. I guess that’s what happens when you over-extend yourself. So happy to have met you too and love being able to share our journeys and grow and learn from each other too.

I am just loving reading all of the positive posts this afternoon!!!! Lisa – I think you are growing and stretching and it is wonderful to watch! You did remind me to get back in the saddle for The Artist’s Way – that was such an inspiration too – and I did slack off some. Glad I met you and glad I get to watch you grow.

Hi Lisa, so happy to know about your wonderful Journey. I have been doing the similar things in last one year, facing my fear and taking tiny steps to be closer to live a life full of passion and joy.

So much has happened in a year! It seemed to fly by. I love how we all forced ourselves out of our comfort zones and did stuff. Amazing thing! And welcome to the circle <3

Hi Ginger. It has been a year full of new things, that is for sure. So glad we are all on this journey together and so nice to “meet” you, even if not in person. Alisa Burke’s classes are great, I took two and will take the blog one too, and they are affordable, which is an added bonus. Otherwise, I probably couldn’t take them. I also just won a spot in the Soul Food class. I’m so excited for that one. :)
