Hello Friends! Yesterday, I submitted my entry into Lilla Rogers' 2013 Global Talent Search and would love to share it with you.
A colored pencil drawing on 9" x 12" acid-free drawing paper. It took many layers to get the colors to pop just so. I used Adobe Illustrator to add "Journal" at the bottom. All-in-all, the entire process from start to submission took about 13 hours.
The most challenging part of this assignment was deciding where to place "Journal". I went back and forth between putting the letters on apples in the tree, carving it into the tree trunk, flying it in a kite in the sky, drawing it in the sand or putting rocks with letters in the sand. I ended up not doing any of those and added it digitally. Why? For starters, I was concerned I would ruin the whole drawing if I wrote it in and I wouldn't be able to use this drawing for anything other than a journal if it was a permanent part of the artwork.
There will be 50 entries selected come August 1st. Best of luck to everyone who submitted an entry. Keep your fingers crossed for me!
Did you submit an entry? Please share your blog links below. Have you entered other contests? I would love to hear what challenges you faced.
