I've been inspired lately by intuitive painting. There was an e-course I had wanted to take, but just wasn't within my budget right now. However, a few of my friends are taking it and posting some of their works. So, tonight I felt inspired to give it a shot. I turned on Spotify, played some good tunes, picked out some of my favorite colors, got my hands dirty and finger painted.
This is the first layer, not sure what it will turn into. I don't paint all that much, but have been wanting to get into it more and more. This is really an experiment to get comfortable with painting, creating textures, mixing colors and creating a piece of art that is totally unplanned. Usually, when I draw, I know what I'm drawing ahead of time.
This is all new to me. It was fun just swirling the paint around with my fingers and spraying water here and there to get a better flow. I think I may see a heart developing in the center. This may end of being a perfect painting for Valentine's Day right around the corner. Or maybe it will end up being a beautiful sunset on a lake. Anything is possible!
Does anything in the painting pop out at you? Have you tried intuitive painting? Or just being a kid again and finger painting?

Lisa I am touched that you have been inspired by me and others to paint. I just love that you didn’t let the fact that you are not taking class with Flora just yet to stop you from painting. It is so much fun and it feels so liberating regardless if you are in a class or not. I absolutely love the colours you have chosen. Your painting is beautiful. I hope you will show once you will add more layers. I look forward to seeing how it will look in the end. xo
[…] Purple Haze” is the finished painting from my previous “Painted Fingers” posts here and here. This painting evolved through seven layers and was completed with a coat of satin […]
Hi Debi! Thanks so much for the lovely comment. I am right there with you and it’s a good thing I didn’t spend the money cause I ended up needing to buy a new furnace! I’m thinking my next layer will be some more blue, yellow and maybe white. I also see a bit of a waterfall, crashing waves effect on the bottom right. Maybe we can join in on Flora’s next class!
Oh Lisa! Your painting is beyond lovely!! I’m sitting here drinking my morning coffee with the winter sun streaming in my window and casting stripes across my bedspread. And then I clicked to your gorgeous colorful painting! WOW! The colors you choose are just luscious together and as far as I’m concerned, you just can’t go wrong from here on out. Just don’t add anything to muddy this explosion of joyful exuberance! I can feel the release and joy from here. Oh! And I definitely see the heart right in the center. It would look wonderful as a Valentines Day painting… but it may have something else in mind too!! I wanted to take Flora’s class so much!!! But it was definitely out of my price range right now. I’m afraid it would have been extremely selfish for me to take it right now. So I’m going to explore just like you did. Thank you so much for inspiring me!!!
Thanks so much, Suzanne! Yes, it is fun and I will definitely show more!
