Many people keep journals.  Journals can be for anything.  Dreams, thoughts, sketches, finances, baby books, quotes, etc.  Recently, I've noticed a lot of creatives talking about idea journals and inspiration files. I tend to keep lists in journals, but have only been keeping a real journal for less than a year.  The more I read about idea journals, the more I think it's something I should give a try. How can we benefit from an idea journal? Ability to keep track of thoughts and ideas every minute of every day.  I don't know about you, but I have a...

New Year. New Word. Happy 2014!

Lisa Blake 2014 Action art creative Goals heart soul create heartsoulcreate inspirations journal Lisa R. Ullrich Lisa Ullrich nurture relaxation self-care simplification

Nurture is my word for 2014.  2013 felt very hectic.  You know, the old "there is never enough time in a day?"  So, this new year will focus on self-care, movement, relaxation, simplification, and fun.  I will be getting away from the time waster called "the world wide web."  Probably the biggest time sucker in my life. I will nurture my health with better eating, exercise and hopefully better sleep. I will nurture my body with spending lots of time off my tush, movement, yoga, massages and facials. I will nurture my mind with less worry and stress, online courses,...

Gratitude

Hello Friends!  Yesterday, I submitted my entry into Lilla Rogers' 2013 Global Talent Search and would love to share it with you.     A colored pencil drawing on 9" x 12" acid-free drawing paper.  It took many layers to get the colors to pop just so.  I used Adobe Illustrator to add "Journal" at the bottom.  All-in-all, the entire process from start to submission took about 13 hours. The most challenging part of this assignment was deciding where to place "Journal".  I went back and forth between putting the letters on apples in the tree, carving it into...

I signed up to participate in Lilla Rogers' 2013 Global Talent Search.  I was briefed to create a playground themed journal cover as if Paperchase were my client.  It takes me back to my childhood and all the playgrounds around my house.  I'm working on my thumbnail drawings to put together my design before I start drawing on the "good paper"!  Wish me luck! What was your favorite thing to play on at the park?
